James Hyde, Retail Sales Director, for Volvo Bus explains: “It’s extremely satisfying to see this significant investment and commitment from VDL Jonckheere. We are excited to reveal the new JHV2 bodystyle at this year’s EBE and celebrate its arrival with significant orders from two the UK’s most successful coach operators – Travellers Choice and Park’s of Hamilton.

“All vehicles are built to an executive specification and, in addition to the restyled front and rear exterior modules which creates a fantastic new and modern aesthetic appearance, the Jonckheere JHV2 offers many additional and improved features and benefits for drivers and passengers alike.”

Travellers Choice of Carnforth has ordered eight vehicles - four, two axle B11Rs and four tri-axle - with passenger capacities of 53 and 65 respectively. Park’s of Hamilton has also placed an order for ten B11Rs with the new JHV2 bodystyle.

John Shaw, Managing Director of Travellers Choice, said: “Both Volvo and Jonckheere have involved us in the project to develop the new bodywork since the outset.  We are delighted to be one of the first UK operators to commit to purchasing these latest vehicles and having them enter service as part of our fleet.

“This is a considerable investment for us and has been made on the back of our long standing relationship and the trust we have with Volvo Bus and their products.  This is also based on our successful experience of operating their vehicles over many years.”

Michael Andrews, Director of Park’s of Hamilton, said: “Over the years we have purchased more than 100 vehicles from Volvo Bus – all with Jonckheere bodywork. We particularly like the B11R chassis with its proven operational track record and low fuel consumption credentials.

“We believe that the investment in the new JHV2 body demonstrates the long term commitment from both companies to the UK market.  We are delighted with the new features included in the JHV2 and the many benefits that they will deliver for our drivers and passengers alike.”

The JHV2 includes a completely redesigned ergonomic dashboard with improved layout and an integrated I-Shift lever, as well as better access to the storage spaces.   Access to components on the front and driver side has also been improved with the reversing camera monitor now fully integrated into the dashboard.

LED lights at the front and rear are also fitted as standard and an additional, separate and lockable luggage compartment for drivers are all new, as is the improved locking mechanism on the entry door.

Other features now included are enhanced sound insulation at the rear of the vehicle which aids passenger comfort, as does the new ‘Thermo King’ climate control.  An auxiliary pre-heater, pre-installation system is also fitted.  LED light strips have been added to the interior racks as well as the new range of three-point belted Fainsa Brava seats and leather headrests.
