Volvo Buses extends entry-level coach range with new 57-seat option

Volvo Buses is to bring a 57-seater coach into the UK and Irish markets, with the expansion of its recently launched 12.6m Volvo B8R – MCV eVoTor coach range.

Introducing the new 57-seater Volvo B8R – MCV eVoTor coach, designed to comfortably accommodate more passengers while maintaining top-tier reliability and safety

Launched in late-2023 and featuring 53 high quality seats and a toilet, which can be removed to allow for 55 seats, the new fully seated variant is available to order immediately, with deliveries to commence from May 2025.

It will be built on the same proven B8R eight-litre chassis, giving fleets a greater choice of seating configurations to cope with higher capacity applications.

Domenico Bondi, Managing Director of Volvo Bus UK & Ireland, says: “The B8R – MCV eVoTor was designed as a reliable and cost-effective workhorse for an array of different applications, and it’s been quickly finding favour with fleets. Now we’re set to bridge further gaps in the domestic coach market whilst introducing a competitively priced vehicle offering a superior level of comfort and safety.”

Commenting on the expected market demand, he says: “We had customers asking us about the potential for 57-seats soon after launch. Following a series of meetings with our partners at MCV, we’re really excited to be expanding the range.”

The B8R benefits from Volvo’s versatile D8K engine for world-leading fuel-efficiency, producing up to 350 hp and a peak torque of 1,585 Nm. This is driven through a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission which combines smooth and precise gearshifts with high average speeds, to ensure outstanding driveability.

Inside the coach features generous on-board luggage racks, a Bosch audiovisual system, and comes as standard with individual USB charging points to keep passengers connected on the go.
