Powered by Volvo’s proven D8K engine, recognised as one of the cleanest and most efficient Euro-6 diesel bus engines on the market, the new vehicles have been tailored specifically for airport operations, featuring generous luggage racks and twin sets of double doors enabling swift boarding and disembarkation.
They are operating landside 24/7, servicing three busy customer car parks and two further staff parking areas at Dublin Airport, with just an 18-hour period each year when the service briefly pauses.
Kim Swan, Managing Director, Aircoach, says: “It’s been great to welcome these new buses into our fleet. We’re running a very busy shuttle service and we’ve got no time for downtime. Reliability is paramount – quite literally, every customer has a plane to catch! We considered our options carefully, but Volvo Buses won the tender and they haven’t let us down.
“Being brand new, the Volvos give our service a real upgrade which has been very much appreciated by our customers. They are much quieter and more comfortable than the older fleet; and they look fantastic too!”
The new Volvo B8RLE- MCV eVoRas are being supported in service by local dealer Irish Commercials, which is located just 3km from Dublin Airport. This provides Aircoach with access to a full suite of aftersales support right on its doorstep, including servicing and parts, all backed by the power of Volvo Buses’ global systems.
