The company, based near Gatwick in London, purchased the new coach to supplement its existing fleet. The 10 metre B8R, the first new Volvo purchased by the company, comes with Sunsundegui bodywork, and was selected due to its size specification on the recommendation of Volvo Retail Bus and Coach Sales Manager, Richard Mann.
Director of United Minibuses and Coaches, Mumtaz Rasool, explained: “We needed a new coach and were in the market for a smaller vehicle and the B8R SC5 is a great fit for us. We have heard great things about the reliability and fuel efficiency of Volvo coaches, so we are confident we will be pleased with all aspects of this new vehicle.
“The coach will be used for luxury tours of London, Oxford, Harry Potter Studios as well as Hampton Court and Windsor Castle. The size of the coach was really attractive to us where busy narrow roads make access for larger vehicles tricky.
“We have chosen to buy from Volvo because we believe the chassis is solid, well built, and will stand the test of time.”
The 38 seat vehicle ordered by United Minibuses and Coaches includes reclining seats with individual USB ports and three point seatbelts. The B8R chassis also includes a range of safety features such as electronically controlled brakes and driver support systems.
Richard Mann added: “One of the key advantages of the Volvo B8R SC5 is that it has a small and compact design, but with 38 seats, it still provides the passenger and luggage capacity many require. It is highly flexible and equally suitable for driving around country lanes or tight city centre streets.
“It is great to be working with Mumtaz and his team, and we’re pleased they have chosen a Volvo for this purchase. We believe this coach will deliver the high standards their passengers want and expect, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”
