Katatong purchases 23 Volvo B8R to serve its expansion

Katatong Transport Company Limited, a leading employee shuttle service provider in industrial estates in the eastern part of Thailand, has turned the COVID19 crisis into an opportunity and purchased additional 23 Volvo premium B8R coaches to meet its business expansion.

Founded in 1999, Katatong Transport Company Limited (Katatong) started with only two vans for employees’ transportation and maintained its high-quality service to the customers ever since, making the company different from other service providers and has now becoming the leader in employee shuttle services in Thailand.

The COVID pandemic has affected Katatong’s business badly. However, the company has kept its high standard service and offers all-trip hygienic measures to aboard passengers. The enhanced safety measures helped boost the confidence of its customers in using the company’s services continuously.

Recently, the company was awarded a 5-year contract from Toyota Motor Thailand for employee transfer. After signing the contract, 23 Volvo B8Rs were delivered to Katatong with the most fuel-efficient D8A engine and automatic gearbox. Equipped with Volvo Electronic Braking System (EBS), integrated Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Blending, Hill Start Aid, Brake Assist, and Volvo Electric Stability Program (ESP). These Volvo B8Rs also come with the hydraulic power steering, designed to provide higher drivability, and driving comfort.

Katatong strictly implemented sanitary measures since the start of Covid from last year. All drivers and passengers are required to test body temperature and wash hands with sanitizer before getting on board. All buses go through thorough ozone sanitization on a weekly basis. “We have been communicating continuously with our customers and passengers both online and offline. It is our determination to turn the COVID-19 crisis into an opportunity and stand out even stronger in the transportation business,” shared Mr. Pongpan Hongtong, Managing Director of Katatong, “Purchasing Volvo is also part of our business strategy to boost the confidence in our customers, as the Volvo brand represents safety. Moreover, we can calculate the exact costs with the maintenance service package provided by Volvo Buses Thailand, which allows us to show to our customers transparently.”

These 23 newly acquired Volvo B8Rs were built by a local bodybuilder, customizing body design according to the customers’ need. Every bus was installed with LED lamps, comfortable seats and footrest for every seat.

Katatong has been a long-lasting partner with Volvo Buses. The company first started to purchase Volvo since 2015 with 16 B7Rs. Volvo Buses would like to congratulate Katatong for the expansion of its business and show our great appreciation to Katatong for the trust and support!
